Commercial Monitors launches biggest single source for competitive ad monitoring

Melbourne, 16 December 2008
– Leading Australian media monitoring company, Commercial Monitors today announced the release of version 5 of its industry-leading AdReview software platform.

AdReview combines both creative and spot data, independently sourced from over 2000 Australian media, into a single source-competitive media intelligence tool for advertisers, agencies, publishers and broadcasters.

“By linking our creative database and metadata to our comprehensive spot occurrence data, users can easily search, filter, track and organise competitive advertising information from their desktop, then easily export it into Excel, Word and PDF documents to share quickly with colleagues,” said Commercial Monitors director, Mark Scatchard.

“We are delighted to release our upgraded AdReview service to existing customers, who have been paramount in the redevelopment of the new platform. Being alerted to new campaigns, viewing them online and drilling down to media spot data has become a simple process, now enhanced with an executive dashboard overview and online news.  These two new features allow our users to see quickly in their industry what is advertising and which editorial media are supporting their marketing activities.”

The key segments of the AdReview update include:

  • Dashboard - an executive snapshot provides a single overview of current activity for your industry to see which brands are active with newly launched campaigns, the volume of new ads activity across monitored media, which brands are most active media buyers, which media has the share of activity, current online news stories in your sector as well as the volume of news activity.
  • Creative - review all the advertisements within your industry from a single point.  With extensive metadata for each advertisement, the ability to search competitors by a range of criteria to review high-resolution copies of their campaigns, along with the tracking data to know their media schedule, is simple.  Save the results using reporting options, or share comments, ratings or work folders with colleagues.
  • Tracking - focus on the media placement.  Our sophisticated technology tracks the media activity to provide a snapshot view of where your industry is focusing its media activity by market. Users can drill down to more specific spot data by media group, publisher, broadcaster, title and station to see who is running what ads.
  • News (Beta) – stay abreast of the latest online news stories relating you your industry.  Sourced from over 1000 Australian sites, continuously updated articles relating to your industry provide an insight into the issues affecting your brand and those of your competitors.
  • My Account - complete management of your profile from a single point.  Create and manage folders for storing campaigns and sharing with colleagues, gain quick access to ads previously viewed or downloaded ads, set up and modify email alerts and RSS feeds, plus keep your personal profile updated.

Earlier this year, Commercial Monitors deployed its second-generation national digital capture network, monitoring over 120 television and radio stations 24/7.  The network included the latest audio visual recognition technology to provide creative and spot monitoring data live to customers within 3 hours of broadcast.  Combined with creative and spot data from daily press, suburban press, regional press, consumer and business magazines, trade publication, online, direct mail, catalogues and outdoor media, AdReview offers unsurpassed competitive intelligence from one source.

Mr Scatchard said that as part of the company’s ongoing product development, additional features will be released in the New Year including audience data across all media.   These features will be integrated alongside the spot data in AdReview to provide a comprehensive spot-by-spot analysis within hours of broadcast.
